Sarah Fischer of Grangeville, hunted eight days after school until she filled her tag with this fine buck, which she and her game warden dad, George, rattled in to 131 yards at which range she delivered a one-shot kill with her 30-06. “Sarah and Laura are feeding the family this year as mom and dad have not brought any game home yet,” Idaho Department of Fish and Game conservation officer George Fischer said. “Game harvest seems a bit better than the past several years. Hunters and officers are seeing better calf and young bull numbers. Perhaps wolf harvest is helping. We still are having a number of animals shot and wasted, but not as bad as last year...but the year is young.”
